Relationships, Longings, And God - How They Relate
When life is filled with hardships, when there is no where to turn, and every back is turned against you, where do you go?
When there is no one you can trust. What do you feel? It is a "Longing" for love, trust and "faith" in someone.
When I speak of "trusting God," some of you wonder how in the world, can you trust someone or something you cannot see?
But in spite of your, or my, human experience of betrayal, it is in the human nature to want to trust, as much as it is in the human nature to want to be loved.
Can you trust what you cannot see? We do it every single day of our lives, with ease and no worry.
How so? You breathe air you cannot see and you implicitly "trust" it will not run out and will not harm you.
That air you breathe, you cannot see, but with out effort or thought you trust there will be enough with each breath your breathe, we do it effortlessly without fear.
We sit in chairs every day, and expect and believe with a stubborn expectation that the seats or chairs we sit on will not collapse or break underneath us.
People want to be trusted, as well as want to find those in whom they can trust. God is the same, he revealed the most significant and greatest truths to all of humanity, in the 27 books of the New Covenant (or Testament) .
He is looking for people that will believe in him and trust Him, that what he says he will do. That is called "Faith" it is not hard to understand, and it is not foreign even to the "un-believer," they put their faith in air and chairs, and people like anyone else, and want, like everyone else, to be trusted and loved.
Faith is intrinsic or "built into the nature" of humanity. It is the basis of all relationships.
We have Faith in people and promises, that is the foundation of friendships, you want to trust and be trusted with promises.
A friendship is a 'covenant,' in which you have pledged or promised, even without ever stating it in words, because it is of the realities I am speaking about.
And those realities are? That we believe in faith that other people can be trusted, and will trust us.
So what is all this talk about? I am trying to distill to you what 'religion' or 'secularism' has masked with ambiguity and confusion regarding the basis of trust and faith in God.
Do you see that correlation now? We are, in our natures, undeniably built within with a "trust" or "faith" longing in our nature.
One of the most overlooked and unnoticed principles in our daily lives that is invisible to the conscience mind of most.
And it is, and will be the greatest longing of both the human heart and the heart of God until the end of the world.
Why? Because, you and I were created in our natures after the image of God. It is in God's nature to Love and to be trusted, and give his trust to us.
This is a reflection of God in the human soul. Do you see that? It is the fingerprint of God's reflection in you.
This is why there is an empty space in all of humanity. This is why the human 'feels' disappointed or 'lonely.'
When that basic faith and trust element is betrayed or missing or damaged in their life.
The human soul, is designed to be a reflection of the One who created it.
This is why humanity in-spite of their education of agnosticism or atheism, longs for meaning and purpose, and anchor that longing in human relationship, by 'love' and 'trust.'
Trust is simply 'faith' in practicality. Your trust in another is 'faith' in another to keep their promise, or lookout for your good, as you are looking out for their good.
That my friends is why a friendship is a 'covenant.'
You see most people are not quite sophisticated to understand these principles or dynamics in their own soul.
They may not be able to categorically define these terms and their meaning like I just have, but they all know, that these are the basis of human relationship.
And to think that this is all accidental is a foolish mistake of humanity. We are designed, and we have a designer.
We are a reflection of that Designer, and the Designer, like us wants our trust, and our love.
Some of you 'feel' that God doesn't love you, that maybe you are "too bad" of a person.
Or that you think, "faith is illogical" but yet you have faith in air, chairs and people, by an unspoken 'oath' we call a friendship.
Friend, don't cast out the only lifeline this world has in existence. If you reject that love offered to you by your Creator, there are no other options.
How did God love you? What proof is there of that?
The greatest demonstration of love was the Cross of Jesus Christ, that demonstrated the extreme measure of love, that God was willing to go to, in order to show his love.
Satan did not die for you, and would never. He is a liar, a thief, and molester of humanity. He is evil, perverted and cruel.
He has no love, he has only his selfish ambitions and uses people for those ends.
But God, on the other hand demonstrated the radical sacrifice of himself by death on the Cross.
This act of love, leaves no question to the limits of God's love for you and me.
If you reject that love, you have rejected Heaven and Paradise and chosen Hell. That is your decision, NOT God's.
Do you see that? He has already made himself known through the person of Jesus Christ, his begotten son, and He wants you to trust Him, that is His Covenant.
The scripture states, that:
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:13
That is a promise of God, but it is not the only one, and is just one of many in His Covenant of Promises, see Hebrews 8:6.
Friends, I am presenting to you one of the most misunderstood truth's in the world.
Like the covenant of a friendship, you expect mutual trust and love without a written agreement, this is the basis of relationship, marriage, and love.
This is the basis of God's relationship to the followers of Jesus Christ.
This is the premise of what Paul the Apostle in his letter to the Ephesians called a "mystery" that marriage and the Church were patterned after one another:
"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." Ephesians 5:31-32
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ you become one with God by His Spirit, as stated:
"But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." 1 Corinthians 6:17
Just as in the marital relationship, the two individuals become one.
This is the relation between God and His true children.
They are in covenant with one another, as marriage is a covenant of love.
Humanity was never created to be separate from their God. And this is why humanity is asking the profound question of "who am I", "what am I", "why do I exist", and "what is my purpose."
You can never get the satisfying answer to those questions until you have embraced the Plan of God's redemption, and embraced the reality of the Truth's taught by Jesus Christ.
If you don't know Jesus Christ, this is your starting point, this message was no mistake, you can experience that love, as real as the air you breathe.
You can experience that life which will laugh in the face of death, and can joy in the face of trouble.
God can give you that meaning your heart longs for, you can have at last that person of whom you can trust and love, as well as be trusted and loved.
Call upon the name Jesus, start that new life today, this is your day, let your new journey begin now.
