Rescue The Perishing (Crosby/Xristozo)

Some songs, you just don’t want to let die. This song written in the late 1800 by Fanny Crosby is one of those that holds the heart of God for those who are perishing without Jesus Christ, while a great deal of modern worship is naval gazing, and self-focused, I wanted to revive this song, because it is in the opposite direction, it is worship that reminds us, of who and what we are from inside looking out at world people who need the only Truth that can set them free. I hope it speaks to you like it does me.

Rescue The Perishing Original Fanny Crosby 1870 Revisionist Paul Q 2026 Reach for the perishing, hold close the dying, draw them with mercy from sin and the grave; cry for the wandering, raise up the fallen, speak of the Savior, so mighty to save. Reach for the perishing, hold close the dying; Jesus is mercy, and Jesus will save. Lost in the shadows, chained like a slave, Jesus will free them from hell and the grave. Pardon is offered, His joy lights the way to all who will trust Him and live in His grace. Lives that were broken will rejoice once more. Though they may turn from Him, still He is waiting, waiting to welcome the child who believes; call to them earnestly, speak to them gently, He will forgive them when grace they receive. Deep in the human heart, bruised by temptation, embers lie hidden that grace can restore; warmed by compassion and wakened by kindness, cords that are broken will vibrate once more. Reach for the perishing, duty is calling strength for the journey the Lord will provide; back to the narrow way, patiently lead them, tell every wanderer our Savior has died.
